I came across it about a year ago. I've currently provided part of two loans to businesses in Honduras. The founders of the service are really passionate and have a great blog at: http://kivachronicles.blogspot.com/ They've also funded Carl to set up shop in Uganda to teach programming whilst also developing Kiva's site. Carl maintains another great blog (with tonnes of photos) at: http://www.carlsbigadventure.com/ Very, very cool. Kiva is absolutely tops. I came across it about a year ago.
