  • yet another great post from Kathy Sierra with some great tips on getting (and keeping) people’s attention
  • I love this. Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. By choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can “sponsor a business” and help the world’s working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Go, now! Check it out. Let someone else get more value from $20 than you ever will.
  • This isn’t actually an article about design, but I think it’s really relevant to anyone who is trying to design a good and effective user experience.

Kiva is absolutely tops. I came across it about a year ago. I’ve currently provided part of two loans to businesses in Honduras.

The founders of the service are really passionate and have a great blog at:

They’ve also funded Carl to set up shop in Uganda to teach programming whilst also developing Kiva’s site. Carl maintains another great blog (with tonnes of photos) at:

    Very, very cool.

I should add that 50% of one loan and 30% of the other have already been paid back.

Just stopping by to note that the founder’s blog has been changed to http://www.socialedge.org/blogs/kiva-chronicles as we have moved it over from blogspot directly to Social Edge.

    Take care
